Even Though The First UAVs Were Built For Military Purposes, Drones Are Increasingly Being Used For Healthcare Purposes, Totally Transforming Healthcare Delivery, And Medical Emergency Response. The Transportation Of Various Medical Materials To And From Patients Or To And From Any Medical Facility Can Be Costly, Time-Consuming Or Simply, Very Challenging. As Deliveries Are Often Time-Sensitive, They Need To Be Performed As Quickly As Possible, But Classic Delivery Means Relying On Road Traffic And Can Only Go So Fast And So Far.  It Is Obvious That Drone Is Shaping The Future Of The Medical Industry.

Medical drones

Medical drones can be used to deliver medical supplies, drugs, serum and small medical devices, or transport blood, specimens, and biologicals, such as vaccines to remote places, and reduce the travel time. They can be employed in disaster relief and save lives. It can also be used for rapid transportation of organs. This can potentially prevent any damage to the organs during transportation. Drones can be used to deliver medical supplies cost-effectively to people residing in remote areas and those affected by natural disasters or emergencies.

Drone medication delivery

Instead of waiting in line at the pharmacy to pick up medication, wouldn’t it be more convenient for it to arrive promptly at your home? That’s the premise behind using drones to deliver medications, a service being offered or trialed by a handful of medical centers and pharmacies, including Intermountain Health in Salt Lake City and Amazon Pharmacy. Pharmacists prepare medications as they would for mail order delivery, then send them by courier to a nearby “nest” of drones (or load them on-site if the hospital has its own nest). Medications are placed in the drone, and customers are alerted by email or text that their delivery is ready. They use a mobile application to select a 10-minute delivery window when they will be available to retrieve the package. Then, at the appropriate time, the drone is programmed to launch, fly to the person’s home and release the medication attached to a small parachute that drops it slowly to the ground.

Ambulance-drones

This reimagined ambulance concept comes down to a one-person drone modeled after a standard quadcopter, driven by a GPS, pilot, or combination of both, that could be dispatched to an emergency scene with a single EMT. Smaller than the conventional ambulance and helicopter (it is roughly the size of a small car), their drone is designed to be able to land almost anywhere. Once it reaches the scene of an accident, the EMT would deploy, stabilizes the patient, load them up, and send them back to the hospital for further treatment. At first sight, the concept presents numerous advantages. In addition to being able to make interventions in heavy traffic that much easier, it would also be able to land on top of buildings and perform airlifts from tight locations conventional helicopters cannot. And instead of a single pilot flying a single helicopter, one person could manage a whole fleet of drone ambulances remotely, relying on autopilot through the skies, and only taking over manual controls during more complicated takeoffs and landings.
